The University of Wisconsin–Madison seeks an outstanding vision scientist to join the Living Environments Laboratory and the Department of Psychology.
We seek an outstanding scientist with expertise in investigations of typical or atypical aspects of visual or visuo-motor processing, with an emphasis on the use of virtual reality techniques. The ideal candidate for this position would carry out virtual reality, psychophysical, and computational studies of the visual and/or visuo-motor capabilities of humans, with an eye toward application and translational research. The applicant would teach aspects of vision science that could include human visual perception, virtual reality and computer vision.
The applicant would also be expected to take a leadership role in guiding the long-term development of the Living Environments Laboratory (which houses a virtual reality CAVE as well as other forms of virtual reality technology).The successful applicant will join a diverse group of vision researchers studying typical and atypical visual processing using a variety of techniques ranging from molecular and cellular, to neurophysiological, behavioral and neuroimaging approaches, across a number of departments, including Ophthalmology, Neuroscience, Psychology, and Engineering. These researchers are brought together on campus through the McPherson Eye Research Institute.
