I am interested in the psychological and physiological correlates of prejudice. Currently, I am investigating why some low prejudice individuals do not show an automatic activation of racial stereotypes or negative feelings when they see a Black person: Is it because this bias was extinguished at some point in their lives, or was it never acquired in the first place? Using an aversive conditioning paradigm, I hope to determine if certain low prejudice individuals will learn a fear association more quickly to Black faces as compared to White faces. I am also interested in the emotional complexities involved in prejudiced responses and how facial expressions of the target may moderate these responses.
