Is it possible that diversity training
programs in employment and educational settings are
creating outcomes that are directly counter to their
intentions? Specifically, does the pressure participants
in these programs experience to achieve attitude change,
and the subsequent monitoring of such change, actually
interrupt the development and quality of interracial
interactions? Or are diversity training programs an
effective means of improving interracial interactions,
but only for some people? I am currently attempting
to answer these questions by mimicking a “real
world” diversity training scenario.
