Professor Richard Davidson is the winner of APA's award for Distinguished Scientific
Contributions in the year 2000. This award is the highest and most coveted in
the field. The author of more than 100 journal articles and author or editor
of 8 books, he is generally regarded as the founder of the field of affective neuroscience, based on his
pioneering research on brain activity and emotion. He is the director of the
predoctoral and postdoctoral training program in emotion research at the University of Wisconsin.
