December 2005
Wisconsin Top-5 among Clinical Psychology PhD programs
In a recent peer-reviewed study* "based on quantifiable measures of faculty publications and citations," UW-Madison ranked #1 in citation ranking, and #9 in number of publications ranking, for a composite ranking of #3. The authors characterize this study as "the first study to rank clinical psychology Ph.D. programs on objective and systematic data of individual faculty" and note that because "the number of publications and citations are typically used to evaluate faculty for promotion and tenure, " these rankings have "a level of validity in assessing prominence that is not present in survey data" that is typically used in rankings that are published in the popular press.
