Developmental Brown Bag

September 18, 2019 @ 12:00 pm

This week (Wed, Sept 18, noon in Rm 338) the brown bag will be devoted to learning and talking about resources outside the Department that are useful to graduate student training here at UW-Madison. The session is intended for and will be most interesting to, graduate students, but others are welcome to attend if they are interested.

Three big topics will be:  (1) resources for training in teaching on campus; (2) information about finding and succeeding in industry internships; (3) resources for statistics training and consultation outside the Department.  For each topic, we’ve arranged for a handful of graduate students speakers to share thoughts and get us started, but the goal is for many in the group to chime in.

We’d also like to like to leave time to touch on people’s experiences with the Writing Center and resources for help with grant-writing (e.g., NSF GRFP, F31, etc). If you feel you’re an expert on one or both of those topics, let me know so that we can look to you first!
