Master’s Program in Data Science and Human Behavior graduates its largest class yet

Master’s students present their final project, “Simulating Hurricane Migration: A Digital Twin Approach” on Friday, December 5, 2025

Two days before commencement, 23 master’s students showcased their final projects to an audience of colleagues, faculty, family, and friends. Their work highlighted the breadth of behavioral science and data analytics in action—ranging from machine learning models predicting mental health risk factors, to applied research on sleep and heart rate variability in athletes, to multi-modal analyses of online learning, and even industry collaborations with American Family Insurance to examine how hurricanes affect migration patterns in Florida.

The Master of Science in Psychology: Data Science and Human Behavior program equips students with a strong foundation in behavioral science and advanced data science tools to tackle real-world challenges related to human behavior.

This year’s cohort is not only the largest since the program launched in 2022, but also, according to Program Director Dr. Caitlin Roa, one of the most collaborative: “This group supported and challenged each other in remarkable ways. Their social cohesion and peer mentoring were off the charts. They’ve truly earned their titles as behavioral data scientists, and I can’t wait to see the impact they’ll make in this field.”

What’s next for this group of graduates? Past years’ program alumni are excelling in research and data analyst careers throughout the U.S. and around the world; we can’t wait to see where this latest cohort goes next.
