Clinical Psychology PhD students all match in Phase 1 to predoctoral internships sites

A full‑time, yearlong clinical internship is the final major milestone before clinical psychology students earn their PhDs. Through “Match Day,” a nationwide process that pairs students and internship sites based on mutual rankings and fit, students learn where they will complete this essential training year. We are thrilled to announce that all of our clinical students who applied this year matched in Phase 1 of Match Day. Congratulations to:

  • From left: Clinical Psychology PhD students Brooke Sasia, Stephanie Ward, Kendra Wyant

Brooke Sasia, who matched with the Multicultural Clinical Training Program (MCTP) embedded in the Division of Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in UCSF’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. At UCSF, Brooke will provide culturally responsive, evidence-based care for children, youth, and families from underserved communities. The MCTP emphasizes leadership and advocacy training for advancement of the profession and for removing barriers people face to access high-quality, evidence-based care. She will also complete a specialty track in adolescent substance use and mental health, conducting comprehensive forensic assessments with adolescents in the juvenile legal system.

  • Stephanie Ward, who matched with the APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. At the Milwaukee VAMC, Stephanie will provide intensive care and assessment services across both structured residential and outpatient programs to Veterans exposed to interpersonal violence across the lifespan. She will complete specialized rotations in Women’s Health and PTSD focused on evidence-based treatment for sexual trauma, particularly in the context of co-occurring substance use.
  • Kendra Wyant, who matched with Sharp Healthcare in San Diego. In this hospital setting, Kendra will work within a multidisciplinary team and receive in-depth adult substance use treatment experience across acute care, inpatient and intensive outpatient program rotations. She will also do a yearlong rotation in the assessment clinic where she will work with patients across the lifespan.

We are delighted to celebrate these extraordinary accomplishments!
