Graduate School Application Prep Series

September 24 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

✨ Designed for psychology majors who are actively preparing applications for graduate programs that start in Fall 2027.

📘 This three‑part interactive series will help you build strong, confident graduate school applications. The sessions are spaced intentionally to keep you organized and moving forward—from early planning through drafting your statements.

You’ll be expected to participate actively and complete short, purposeful tasks between sessions. These tasks are designed to directly support your real application materials, not create extra busywork.

🗓️ Session Overview

⭐ Session 1: Demystifying the Application Process

📍 Thursday, September 24 • 7:00–8:15 pm CT • Brogden Berkowitz Room 338

Get a clear overview of the application timeline, required materials, and realistic expectations. We’ll also cover how to request strong letters of recommendation and how to tailor your materials.

✨ Session 2: Letters & Resumes/CVs That Shine

📍 Thursday, October 8 • 7:00–8:15 pm CT • Brogden Berkowitz Room 338

Learn how to create a Resume/CV that highlights your relevant strengths and experiences. You’ll also begin preparing to draft your personal and purpose statements for Session 3.

📝 Session 3: Crafting Compelling Statements

📍 Thursday, October 29 • 7:00–8:15 pm CT • Brogden Berkowitz Room 338

Get practical strategies for writing clear, authentic, and compelling Personal Statements and Statements of Purpose. This session includes time to reflect on the feedback you received between meetings and refine your drafts.

✏️ Draft Review Opportunity (Between Sessions 2 & 3)

After participants attend Sessions 1 and 2, they will have the option to submit a draft of one of their statements for feedback from staff, current graduate students, and/or faculty. This review is designed to give supportive, actionable guidance before Session 3.
