Welcome to UW-Madison! We are thrilled that you are joining our campus community and have decided to pursue a major in Psychology. Transitioning to a new institution can be challenging at times, and so we strive to provide resources and support to our transfer student population.
Transferring to UW-Madison UW-Madison offers many resources for transfer students. Transfer Admissions, in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, provides information to students about the transfer process, transfer credits, and requirements for transferring to UW-Madison. You can also review the Transfer Transition Program‘s information on understanding transfer course equivalencies and using Transferology. For newly admitted transfer students, the Transfer Transition Program offers abundant ways for new students to connect with current students and the community to create your own Wisconsin Experience.
Psychology Resources for Transfer Students The Department of Psychology provides more detailed information for transfer students intending to major in psychology in Tips for Incoming Transfer Students. For students transferring from Madison College (MATC) intending to major in psychology, please check out specific Transfer Tips for Madison College Students.
Advising for Transfer Students You will have an opportunity to touch base with an undergraduate psychology advisor about incoming credits and course selection when you attend your SOAR (Student Orientation Advising & Registration) session. While you are unable to declare a psychology major until you start classes at UW-Madison, we encourage you to touch base with a psychology advisor early in your first semester. Once you do declare the major, you will be assigned to a psychology advisor based on your last name. You can schedule an advising appointment through the Starfish scheduling system.
